DIRECTIVE (EU) 2024/1203 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 11 April 2024 on the protection of the environment through criminal law and replacing Directives 2008/99/EC and 2009/123/EC · European Union

1. Each Member State shall take the necessary measures to establish its jurisdiction over the criminal offences referred to in Articles 3 and 4 where: the offence was committed in whole or in part within its territory; the offence was committed on board a ship or an aircraft registered in the Member State concerned, or flying its flag; the damage which is one of the constituent elements of the offence occurred on its territory; or the offender is one of its nationals.
